MUSEUM CENTER AT UNION TERMINAL
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Client: Museum Center Foundation & Natural History Museum
Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Size: 30 acres
The Museum Center is located in the historic Art Deco Union Terminal train station, which houses Cincinnati’s History, Natural History & Science, and Children’s Museums, in addition to an OMNIMAX Theater.
The master plan recalled the historical A. D. Taylor landscape, providing an axial boulevard 1,500 feet in length. Parallel rows of trees enframe the long vista. A future phase will add a shaded interpretive walkway through the parking lots. Colorful plantings surround the rehabilitated fountain terraces and walkways.
An 800-foot abstract topiary “Last Train” was designed to appear as if it is pulling out of the station.
This project was completed by Gary Meisner while a partner at BMA, Inc. in collaboration with Glaser Associates.
